Memorial Day Weekend Events Near Rancho Cordova, CA for Teens
For a teenager, the Sacramento County Fair is the main event of Memorial Day weekend: it runs Thursday through the holiday Monday at Cal Expo, with a carnival midway, main-stage bands, monster trucks and a rodeo, and gate admission is $14, or $12 for ages 12 to 16. Rancho Cordova's own event is quieter, a free Monday observance by the Cordova Community Council at the Cordova High School Performing Arts Center.

What runs on which day
The fair is the only thing open all five days. Concerts in the Park is Friday only, the Sacramento Asian Pacific Film Festival runs Friday through Sunday, and Black Family Day always takes the Saturday. That leaves Sunday thin: the fair and the film festival are the only two options here that day.
Monday is crowded. The Memorial Auditorium event runs 10 a.m. to noon, Mount Vernon Memorial Park's ceremony in Fair Oaks starts at 11 a.m., the Rancho Cordova observance is the same day, and the Lincoln Potters throw their first pitch at 1:05 p.m. At the fair, retired and active military get in free on Memorial Day.
What the ticket price covers
The fair's $14 buys one person one day at the gate. The arena shows, including the monster trucks and rodeo a teenager is likely to want, cost extra on top, and parking is $10. The film festival's $5 is a single program, with passes up to $60. At the ballpark, $8 is the grass berm, the bleachers are $10 and reserved seats behind the backstop are $15; parking is free, and the stadium does sell out, so buy ahead.

Black Family Day has run on the UC Davis Quad for more than fifty years and always takes the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. It is free, open to everyone, and runs noon to 8 p.m., so it fills a whole day rather than an hour: food and craft vendors, DJs and live bands, line dancing, a spelling bee, henna artists, a photo booth, inflatable games and a mechanical bull. Davis is roughly a half-hour drive west of Rancho Cordova, which makes it the furthest thing on this list that is still an easy day trip.
Lincoln Potters Memorial Day baseball game
The Potters are a summer collegiate wood-bat team, and their season opens on Memorial Day weekend at Historic McBean Stadium in Lincoln, with a game on Memorial Day itself starting at 1:05 p.m. Tickets are the cheapest here: $8 for the grass berm down the left field line, $10 for the standard bleachers and $15 for reserved seats behind the backstop, and parking costs nothing.
