Truck nights inside La Mesa, by day of the week
Wednesday is the La Mesa Veterans Club on University Avenue, 5pm to 8pm, a low-key stop a few blocks from downtown. It no longer shows on the booking company's current homepage rotation, so call before going. Thursday through Sunday, La Mesa Wine Works on Center Street books a named truck or pop-up on most open days and posts each one on its calendar; it pours wine rather than beer and goes 21 and over after 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Friday afternoon belongs to the farmers market, 3pm to 7pm from October to April and until 7:30pm from May to September, with live music along the way. Village parking fills quickly, and the free Date Avenue lot is the fallback. Helix fills in most other nights, since it opens seven days a week and hosts a truck on most of them.
Breweries with no kitchen of their own
Two taprooms a short drive out run their whole food plan on trucks. Good Pressure Brewing Co. on Mission Gorge Road in Allied Gardens opened in late 2025 and lines up vendors every day of the week, with two dog-friendly patios and permission to bring your own food. Sunny Grove Brewing Co. in Santee says it outright, "No Kitchen. No Problem.", and its truck partners change weekly. Both post the line-up online, and at both the menu outside changes from one visit to the next, so check before you go if you have a particular truck in mind.
Lunch trucks at the two colleges
Grossmont College gets a truck on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Cuyamaca College on Wednesdays, both from 11am to 2pm. Each is one vendor serving a campus crowd, not a gathering, and the vendor is published ahead of time. They make sense if you work or study nearby; neither is worth a special trip from La Mesa.

Helix Brewing Co.

It sits in La Mesa's industrial pocket on Commercial Street, brewing on a 10-barrel brewhouse and pouring a second sour-beer brand, Sourworx, from the same bar. Visitors describe a chill beer garden where the truck takes your order and brings the food to your table. The trade-off is that the truck changes nightly, so a specific craving means checking the schedule first.
La Mesa Village Farmers Market
Every Friday afternoon around ninety vendors set up along La Mesa Boulevard between 4th Street and Palm Avenue, and the prepared-food end of it is where the trucks and food stands park. It is the closest thing downtown La Mesa has to a weekly food truck gathering: dinner, live music and produce in one walkable stretch, with a covered Market Nook of artisan and specialty vendors tucked into the Walkway of the Stars breezeway. The market runs half an hour later from May through September than it does in winter, and it closes for a handful of holidays each year. Village parking fills fast, so the free Date Avenue lot is worth knowing about.
La Mesa Wine Works
An urban winery on Center Street that hosts San Pasqual Winery, La Mesa Wine Works books a named food truck or food pop-up on most of the days it is open and lists each one on its event calendar. The wine is produced locally by the owners' own winemaker, Linda McWilliams, and evenings are often paired with live music or Thursday trivia. It is open Thursday through Sunday only, and goes 21-and-over after 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays. This is the one entry on this list where the pour is wine rather than craft beer.
La Mesa Veterans Club
The Legion hall on University Avenue is a community venue rather than a bar, and its lot is listed by the food truck booking company Curbside Bites as a Wednesday evening truck stop. Eight veteran organizations share the building, and the club runs its own affordable dinners, taco nights and karaoke, all open to the public. It is the one entry here that no longer appears on Curbside Bites' current homepage rotation, so it is worth calling ahead before making the trip. Useful if you want a low-key weeknight stop a few blocks from downtown La Mesa.
Good Pressure Brewing Co.
A family-owned neighborhood brewery on Mission Gorge Road in Allied Gardens, a few minutes west of La Mesa, that opened in late 2025 without a kitchen and lines up food vendors every day of the week instead. The taproom has two patios where leashed dogs are welcome, is explicitly family friendly, and lets you bring your own food if nothing on the schedule appeals. Sunny Grove Brewing Co.
A small-batch Santee brewery whose entire food plan is trucks: their own site leads with "No Kitchen. No Problem." and says the truck partners change weekly, so the menu outside is different most visits. It is family and dog friendly, pours a wide house list running from Mexican lager and Kolsch to a double dry-hopped IIPA, and is open seven days a week. Santee is a short drive north-east of La Mesa, which makes this the easiest East County brewery to fold into a food truck run. Because the rotation moves weekly, check their events page before deciding.
Grossmont College
Curbside Bites parks a truck on the Grossmont College campus on Tuesdays and Wednesdays around midday, on a campus that sits off Grossmont College Drive in El Cajon a few minutes from La Mesa. This is a lunchtime stop with a single vendor rather than a gathering of trucks, so treat it as a convenient weekday meal rather than a destination. The upside is that the vendor is published in advance on the Curbside Bites schedule. Best suited to people already working or studying nearby.
Cuyamaca College
The Rancho San Diego campus gets a Curbside Bites truck on Wednesdays from 11am to 2pm, out east of La Mesa off Rancho San Diego Parkway. Like its sister college up the road, this is one midday truck serving a campus crowd rather than a food truck park. The draw is the published schedule, so you know which vendor is coming before you drive out. Worth a look only if you are already in Rancho San Diego on a Wednesday.
Civita Park Food Truck Tuesdays
If what you actually want is several food trucks in one place, this is the nearest thing to it: Curbside Bites runs Food Truck Tuesdays at Civita Park in Mission Valley with a rotating line-up of four to five trucks. The park itself won an Orchid award from the San Diego Architectural Foundation and is built as a green spine through the Civita neighbourhood, with lawns and trails, so it works as an evening out rather than a quick stop. It is seasonal, running from early April through the summer months rather than year-round. Arrive early: parking and lines both build once the evening gets going.
How we researched this
A spot earned a row by hosting trucks on a recurring, published schedule. With no true food truck park in La Mesa (a long-running local answer holds that San Diego has only places where trucks gather on certain nights), that is the useful version of the search, so the page lists La Mesa's spots first and then those a short drive out. Several that looked promising were left off: Grossmont Center's Food Truck Thursday and the La Mesa Food Truck Gathering on University Ave are both on hold, Bolt Brewery La Mesa has closed, and Burning Beard Brewing is shut during a buildout. BNS Brewing & Distilling and Coin Haus cook their own food, La Mesa Oktoberfest is a three-day festival rather than a regular night, and the Wednesday gathering in downtown San Diego and the nightly trucks at Thorn Street Brewery in North Park are too far to count. We could not confirm an active schedule at The District La Mesa.
