What to Do in Corpus Christi When It Rains
When it rains in Corpus Christi, La Palmera, the enclosed mall on South Padre Island Drive, and Urban Air Adventure Park on South Staples keep the whole visit indoors, and the downtown museums sit together on the 1800 and 1900 blocks of North Chaparral and North Shoreline: the Museum of Science and History ($15), the Art Museum of South Texas ($10) and the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures ($6). The two big attractions, the Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington, are mostly under roof, but each leaves part of the visit out in the weather.
After that, the day of the week does most of the deciding. Which places are open on a rainy Monday
Monday is the hardest day on this list. The science museum, the art museum and the central library are all closed, the Museum of Asian Cultures keeps Mondays and Tuesdays for private events, and K Space Contemporary opens Wednesday to Sunday. Harbor Playhouse only opens its box office on show weekends, so it is an evening to plan rather than a place to duck into.
How much of each visit is under a roof
The aquarium's own FAQ describes indoor and outdoor animal exhibits, and its Splash Park is open air. On the USS Lexington the Pearl Harbor exhibit, flight simulator, escape rooms and 3D theater are inside, but the flight deck is open to the sky. In The Game Funtrackers has go-karts, bumper boats and mini-golf outdoors that do not open until 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, so a wet weekday there is really an arcade visit. La Palmera (food court, children's play area and a Dave & Buster's all inside) and Urban Air are both entirely indoors.

The ticketed places run from $5 at the Selena Museum to $28 a person at 11th Hour Escape, with Harbor Playhouse at a flat $20 and the USS Lexington at $25, where parking is charged separately and tickets are sold only at the ship's own booths. The science museum's $15 drops to $3 for SNAP cardholders under Museums for All.
Six rows have no Adult Admission figure because the venue publishes none, and the library is the free one. The aquarium prices tickets by the day through its booking system, Funtrackers and Urban Air charge by attraction or package, and K Space Contemporary posts no price at all, so treat its entry as unconfirmed rather than free. Texas State Aquarium
Corpus Christi's biggest indoor attraction sits on North Beach, and one ticket covers every animal presentation plus more than 300 species. USS Lexington Museum on the Bay

Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History

Urban Air Adventure Park Corpus Christi

Being entirely indoors is the whole point on a wet day, and it is open every day of the week, though on Monday to Thursday it does not open until 4 p.m. Pricing is by attraction level and package rather than a flat door charge, and the location page does not publish a rate, so check before you drive out.
11th Hour Escape
Four 60-minute escape rooms in a strip centre on South Padre Island Drive: a pirate captain's quarters, a Coastal Bend crime scene, a fallout shelter and a lost-city dig. Every room is $28 a person plus tax, and the venue is open noon to 9:30 p.m. seven days a week, though they ask you to book ahead rather than walk in. They make a point of letting a group pick its difficulty level, which helps if you are mixing first-timers with people who do these often.
La Retama Central Library
The central branch of the Corpus Christi Public Libraries, downtown on Comanche, and the free fallback when everything else on this list costs money.
