Weekends are thinner still. Beyond the two daily happy hours, Christiane's adds a Sunday one, and it is early, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sauvignon Wine Locker keeps its glass discount to weekdays but adds half off bottles under $125 on Sundays and at Saturday brunch. Bacchus Wine Bistro
A French wine bistro a block off Beach Drive that leans Old World: French onion soup, foie gras torchon, tuna carpaccio, and a fromage and charcuterie selection that reviewers single out as often as the wine list. The seasonal menu changes, so it reads more as a full restaurant than a bar with snacks. Happy hour runs the longest stretch of any wine spot on this list, three hours every day of the week from 3 p.m. The catch: the site advertises the window but never publishes what is actually discounted, so you find out at the table.
Bar Chinchilla
Billed by its owners as the smallest bar in St. Pete, this is a narrow downtown room built around craft beer taps and a wine list of more than fifty bottles poured by the glass. The happy hour is the most generous on the schedule here, seven days a week from 4 to 7 p.m., though the wine discount rotates rather than sitting at a fixed price. Worth knowing before you go: it is closed Mondays, and the kitchen is not the draw, so it suits a drink-first stop rather than dinner.
Christiane's

The happy hour is the best documented of the group, with house wines by the glass at $6, half off bottles under $50, and 20% off the wine wall. Note the odd shape of the window: 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and an earlier 1 to 2:30 p.m. slot on Sunday.
Sauvignon Wine Locker
Run by a certified sommelier in a historic Central Avenue building, reached down an alley and up a stairway, which is part of why regulars describe finding it as a small event in itself. The food side is ambitious enough that the owner calls it a restaurant first, with pastas, charcuterie boards and a trattoria menu. That combination makes it the widest by-the-glass choice in the city and the one stop here where a full dinner and a bottle to take home happen in the same visit. Happy hour is Tuesday to Friday, 3 to 6 p.m. Be aware that at least one local happy hour guide lists different days and a $5 pour deal, so confirm the current offer when you arrive.
How we researched this
Wine had to be the point of the place for it to be listed here (a wine bar, a wine shop with a bar, a self-pour tasting lounge or a champagne bar, going by how the venue describes itself), and it also needed a St. Petersburg address and a published happy hour. That rule left out Florida Orange Groves Winery, which runs free daily tastings and tours but no happy hour and is addressed in South Pasadena, along with Vino Simpatico (also South Pasadena) and wine bars in Gulfport, St. Pete Beach and Palm Harbor. Cognac was left out because it calls itself a brasserie rather than a wine bar, Exquisite Bistro because its address and hours conflicted across sources, and Velvet Coupe because its site no longer posts a happy hour. Several other St. Pete wine rooms, among them 86 Wine Bar, Lolita's Wine Market and bin6south, had no happy hour we could confirm.
Most of the happy hours come from the venue's own website; Bacchus's daily schedule and Sauvignon's Tuesday to Friday range are cited to a local happy hour guide, because Bacchus's site gives the window but not the days and Sauvignon's lists its days one at a time.
